Oalex Anderson is a name becoming familiar with this football season. The young 20 year-old is impressing domestically by pushing for a starting spot with the Seattle Sounders. Scoring four goals in 16 appearances for S2, Anderson has also represented St. Vincent and the Grenadines 20 times, notching 10 goals for his country, including Vincy Heat’s only goal in a World Cup qualifier against the US national team in St. Louis in November 2015.
Despite his young age, Anderson has already amassed 22 appearances for his nation and scored an impressive 10 goals as well. How the youngster arrived in Major League Soccer is an interesting story as well. Ezra Hendrickson, former star for the Vincy Heat was watching games in his home country when he spotted a talented teenager. Hendrickson approached the teen and his mother, and a relationship blossomed from there. What makes this relationship crucial is that Hendrickson, using his MLS connections, became coach of Seattle Sounders FC 2, the Sounders’ third division team. Anderson was one of the first players that Hendrickson brought into the USL.
